ถ้าประตูนั้นปิด กลับมาเคาะประตูอีกเรื่อย ๆ
เพื่อนเก่าที่พึ่งกลับมาสวยชาวอินโดนีเชียของผมเล่าให้ฟังว่าเธอไปฉลองวันเกิดตัวคนเดียวที่เกาะสุดหรู (Mackinac Island)ใน Michigan ระหว่างที่อยู่ที่เกาะนั้นเธอต้องการทำบุญใ้ห้แม่ที่อยากจะเป็นยาย (คืออยากให้เพื่อนคนนี้มีลูกมีสามีเสียที) ซึ่งก็เผอิญว่ามี โบสถ์เก่าแก่แนวของ St Anne. ซึ่งเป็นยายของจีซัสพอดี เธอไปแต่ว่าโชคไม่ดีที่โบสถ์นั้นปิด เธอต้องกลับไปอีกถึงสามครั้งจึงจะได้เข้าโบสถ์ เธอบอกคนที่โบสถ์ว่าเธอต้องการ บริจาคเงินเพื่อให้ชื่อของเธอและแม่อยู่ในอิฐของโบสถ์ พนักงานที่โบสถ์บอกเธอว่าเรื่องนั้นเธอต้องไปพบกับบาทหลวง เธอไปเคาะประตูที่บ้าน แต่บาทหลวงก็ไม่อยู่ เธอเกือบจะกลับอยู่แล้ว แต่พนักงานคนนั้นก็ไปตามหาบาทหลวงให้เธอจนได้ บาทหลวงเปิดพิพิธภัณฑ์และร้านขายของให้เธอเป็นการส่วนตัว เขาบอกว่าถ้าเธอมาที่เกาะนี้อีกมายืมจักรยานของเขาก็ได้
ที่แปลกกว่านั้นก็คือบาทหลวงยืนยันว่าเขารู้จักเธอมาก่อน หน้าตาแบบนี้ ชื่อนี้แหละ ทั้งที่เพื่อนผมยืนยันว่านี่เป็นการพบกันครั้งแรกของเขา บาทหลวงให้คำแนะนำแก่เพื่อนผมว่า

หาชายดีนั้นยาก คนที่ไม่ใช่คนใจดีมีอยู่มาก
ให้เธออธิฐานโดยตรงกับพระเจ้า
ขอให้พบกับชายคนนั้นในตอนจบของคำอธิฐาน
กล่าวอย่างนุ่มนวลว่า ข้าพเจ้าจะดำเนินชีวิตอย่างสุภาพและทำตามความปรารถนาของพระองค์
โปรดให้พรแก่ข้าฯด้วยเถิด
ผมว่าเป็นคำอธิษฐานที่หลาย ๆ คนอาจจะได้ประโยชน์จึงได้ลงไว้ที่นี้
เธอบอกว่าความมุ่งมั่นนั้นจะให้ผลในที่สุด แล้วเล่าอีกเรื่องให้ฟังว่าเธอไป เที่ยวเมือง Holland ในมิชิแกน เพื่อไปดูกางหันลม เธอไปถึงก่อนเวลาปิดสิบห้านาที พนักงานเกือบจะไม่ให้เธอเข้าชม เธอบอกว่าเธอต้องไปถามหัวหน้าก่อน หัวหน้าคุยกับเธอแล้วถามว่าทำไมเธอถึงต้องการเข้าไปดูให้ได้ในวันนี้ เธอบอกว่า เพราะวันนี้เป็นวันเกิดของฉัน และฉันก็มาไกลจากอินเดียน่าเชียวนะ เธอได้รับการอนุญาติให้เข้าไป คนข้างในก็ถามกันว่าเธอนะหรือคือคนที่มีวันเกิดวันนี้ แล้วเขาเหล่านั้น ก็อวยพรวันเกิดให้เธอ เธอเข้าไปถ่ายรูปกางหันลมและดอกไม้เหมือนกับที่ตั้งใจไว้ แล้วก็คิดในใจว่าช่างวันเกิดที่ได้รับการประทานพรอะไรเช่นนี้

My long lost friend who has become pretty again lately told me a story of her recent trip to Mackinac Island, Michigan. Her mom wish to be a grammom soon. It was a coincident that there is a very old churh named Ste Anne’s Catholic Church on the island. (Ste Anne is a grandmother of Jesus Christ). Unfortunately when she went to church it was closed. It was not until her third visit to the church that she finally have a chance to get in. She inqured about her wish to donate and have her and her mom name on a brick in the garden. A gentleman at the church told her that she needed to see the father who lives across the street. She rang the door bell, but no one answer. She was about to leave. The same gentleman told her to wait and went out looking for the father. She finally met the father and he opened the museum and the gift store specially just for her. When he first saw her. He said he know her. A lady he knew and met before had the same name. They chatted and the father gave her some guidances. He kindly said the next time she visit the island she can used his bycicles.
the experience taught her to never give up and “persistent pays off”.
On the trip back home she want to see the famous wind mill at Holland Michigan. She was there at 4:45, just 15 minutes before they closed. They would not let her in, but she insisted. The supervisor asked her for the reasons. She said it was her birthday and she is from Indianna. The supervisor let her in and along the way people asked her ”Are you the birthday girl?” and they wished her “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!”
